Last week the lovely chaps from Colours were kind enough to give me a tape of their EP. After spending 20 minutes trying to find somewhere to play it, I can assure you that it was time well spent.
Through the use of eerie melodies and cavernous beats this band is instantly reminiscent of No Age. Their ghostly musings have an intense warmth to them; inducing a wall of symbiotic sound that one could, quite easily, float away on. Somewhat evocative of A Grave with No Name, and at times My Bloody Valentine, Colours are desolately triumphant; managing to create an encompassing mesh of comforting and uplifting noise, whilst maintaining a slightly despondent air. Lyrically simplistic, yet melodically strong, these guys can be likened to Wavves, without the reverb. As such, their sound is stylistically more mature and well defined.
I urge you to give them a listen:
